You may also submit a paper application, available at all Library locations. Some opportunities require a special application (as noted).
Volunteers need a valid Palatine Public Library District card and must commit to volunteering a minimum of 15 hours.
Opportunities for Adults
Library Greeter
Location: Main Library
Date/Time: Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Duration: Ongoing or Short Term
Greet Library visitors at the front door and count number of visitors entering/exiting the building with a tally counter. Volunteer must commit to volunteering each week. This opportunity requires standing at a podium for 2 hours. Several opportunities available.
Opportunities for Teens
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) - for grades 8th-12th
The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meets monthly during the school year and members assist at various programs throughout the year. Applicants must be in grades 8-12 to become a member. Applications are available August 1-15.
Tween Advisory Group (TAG) - for grades 5th-7th
The Tween Advisory Group (TAG) meets monthly during the school year on Saturdays between 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Enjoy a fun activity and give input for library services, displays, programs, and collections. Each month features a different activity. Sign-up two weeks before the date on the library events calendar or click the link below. No application required.
