Library and Account FAQs During Closing

Since announcing building closures, we have answered questions on these topics and more. Need to know something not answered here? Contact us at palatine@palatinelibrary.org from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. A library staff manager will respond as soon as possible.

My account is blocked. What can I do? Contact us at palatine@palatinelibrary.org from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and we will work with you.

What's happening with my holds? District cardholders can make holds requests through My Account. Holds are available for 7 days once you've been notified that your items are ready.

How do I pick up my holds? New Curbside Pickup service has been created. Visit palatinelibrary.org/curbside for all the details.

Can I schedule an appointment for Curbside Pickup? Yes! Visit palatinelibrary.org/curbside for instructions and the link to the calendar to reserve your spot.

Should I return my materials now? Currently, you can return materials to the Main Library only. The parking garage Drive-up Drop is open Monday through Saturday, 10am - 6pm, the Walkup Drop in front of the building is open while we are not doing Curbside Pickup.

Can I make an interlibrary loan request? Yes, but only digital article requests may be fulfilled at this time. Any requests for physical materials will be postponed until the library reopens.

Is the library making outreach visits? No, we are not delivering anything, anywhere (no visits to homes, daycares, or senior centers).

Can I access all the online learning resources? Yes, and there’s so much there waiting for you! Ancestry.com is not accessible remotely. I don’t know my PIN. Can you help? Yes, we can help reset your PIN. Email us at palatine@palatinelibrary.org for assistance.

Can I make new meeting room reservations? Not currently, we will make an announcement when reservations are available.

What can be done to clean materials returned to the Library after reopening? We are researching the best ways to decontaminate the materials safely. While we don’t have all the answers yet, we will have procedures in place before we reopen.
