We will celebrate Polish Culture in May with programs for everyone to enjoy, from children’ storytime and craft in Polish and English to the Song and Dance Ensemble, Lajkonik.

Polish Storytime and Craft
- Friday, May 1, 1:00 - 1:45 p.m.
Hear a story in Polish and English and afterward, the children will complete a simple craft to take home.
Preschool - 2nd grade.
Polish Paper Cutting Crafternoon
- Saturday, May 2, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Adults will enjoy learning the craft of Polish paper cutting (Wycinanki), and create artistic designs from colorful paper. Supplies for this program are generously provided by the Friends of the Palatine Library.

Steve Szabados returns to discuss how to research your Polish ancestors.
Polish Songs and Dance with Lajkonik
- Monday, May 11, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Polish Song and Dance Ensemble, Lajkonik shares Polish traditions and history through festive songs and dances, highlighting the different regions of Poland. A presenter describes what is taking place and shares the culture of Poland. Lajkonik was founded in 1991 to foster Polish culture and traditions in the United States, and is a member of the Polish National Alliance and the Polish Folk Dance Association of America.
Great Books: Polish Poetry by Nobel Prize Winner Wislawa Szymborska

Enjoy a book discussion about the Poetry of Nobel Prize Winner Wislawa Szymborska from the Great Books Foundation. Selections include: Could Have, The End and the Beginning, Utopia, and The Three Oddest Words. Copies of the book are available for $5.00 at the second floor Reference Desk.
