Have you ever wondered what if your life took a different path? Laura Barnett’s debut novel, The Versions of Us, plays with the concepts of destiny and fate by offering three different versions of romantic love over a period of 50 years.

Jim Taylor and Eva Edelstein meet on a bike path in Cambridge, England and fall in love. In the second version of their story they miss each other on the path and don’t meet until years later. In the third version, they meet and have a brief relationship before things end. In short chapters which move between versions, Barnett traces the multiple possibilities in the lives of Jim and Eva from 1958 through 2014. Featuring strong supporting characters and elegant prose, The Versions of Us is a thoughtful and entertaining romantic novel.
